Fathers and Sons in Hamlet Essay -- Shakespeare Hamlet

Fathers and Sons in Hamlet      Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚   Hamlet's father, Old King Hamlet who he looked up to was recently killed, and his mother married his uncle within a month. He receives a visit from the ghost of his father which urges him to "revenge [Claudius'] foul and most unnatural murder" (I, v, 32) of Old Hamlet. It is only logical that under these circumstances, Hamlet would be under great duress, and it would not be abnormal for him to express grief. Fortnibra and Laertes also have to deal with the avenging their fathers' death. Fortinbras and Laertes are parallel characters to Hamlet, and they provide critical points on which to compare the actions and emotions of Hamlet throughout the play. They are also important in Hamlet, as they are imperative to the plot of the play and the final resolution. Hamlet, Laertes and Fortinbras are three young men who are placed in similar circumstances, that is, to get revenge for their fathers' deaths. The way they each come to terms with their grief and how they rise to the call of vengeance is one of the main contrasts between the three. Hamlet is the Renaissance man who is well rounded in all areas. He has a tremendous acting abilities, and he is a scholar who analyzes everything and is very philosophical, as was shown in his assessment of life in the "To be, or not to be" soliloquy. Hamlet's philosophical side is also brought to light in the prayer scene. At this point he has the opportunity to kill Claudius while he is attempting to repent. However, Hamlet does not take that chance because he desires kill Claudius "when he is drunk asleep, or in his rage/ Or in the incestuous pleasure of his bed," so that "his soul will be as damn'd and black/ As hell, wher... ...nalyzed and executed as he planned. Fortinbras ability to act upon reason and not emotion is one of the most significant differences he has with Hamlet. Hamlet and Laertes represent the extremes of action. Fortinbras therefore, is the midpoint of the two extremes; his ability to reason and the act upon the reason has resulted in his possession of both lands and throne as he set out to avenge. Consulting For A Local Record Label Essay

1. Introduction I have been hired as an E-commerce consultant by a local established record label. They are keen to exploit the potential of the global market by expanding their customer and client base and capitalizing on the growing trade in downloading music. Definition of E-commerce extracted from â€Å"E-commerce is a way of doing real-time business transactions via telecommunications networks, when the customer and the merchant are in different geographical places. Electronic commerce is a broad concept that includes virtual browsing of goods on sale, selection of goods to buy, and payment methods. Electronic commerce operates on a bona fide basis, without prior arrangements between customers and merchants. E-commerce operates via the Internet.† 2. Methodology I will be using the following websites to investigate the questions set in this assignment. Yahoo Google HMV Virgin 3. Findings From my research I found that the ongoing development of technology particularly in the World Wide Web has headed millions of companies to take advantage of setting up an internet website where their products and services can be sold and thus maximize the profits of the company by reaching their target market. The benefits of E-commerce developed for the music industry are as follows: In order for record labels, musicians, music stores, and individuals who have an interest in generating profits out of selling music, they identified a gap in the market place called E-commerce and penetrated here to maximize their profits By entering into E-commerce, these companies maximize their profits by fighting against piracy. The benefits of consumers are acquiring quality music at a cheaper price and most importantly legally. The consumers also benefit from peaking up their favorite tracks or the entire album Companies such as HMV entice consumers by offering over one million tracks downloadable over their website. The software that is used to download these tracks is available online or in stores of the company free. It is easy and fast to download music and there is technical support and advice offered to individuals experiencing difficulties in setting up the software. Another advantage of E-commerce is that companies such as HMV do not require have staff (apart from technical workers) which is very cost effective as it minimizes the costs of the company. Customers can shop 24/7 at their convenience. There is always the product they need and thus their needs are met more efficiently and their perception will not change. Moreover, HMV slightly repositions their market place by differentiating their product range which now includes many products which are needed to listen to digital music in the form of MP3. One of these products are MP3 players and an IPod shown below. Customers can also benefit from managing their own music collection and burning their music to CDs concurrently complying with the law. The price is very affordable and reasonable as it meets the needs of diverse types of customers. Please see the price list of HMV Digital Music: Choice A Choice B Choice C Unlimited access à ¯Ã‚ ¿Ã‚ ½14.99 a month right to burn the music to CDs Limited access 50 tracks à ¯Ã‚ ¿Ã‚ ½4.99 a month Individual tracks or entire tracks The price varies The customers are allowed to listen to 30 seconds the music they are interested in buying prior to their purchase. It takes very little time to download a song. Depending in the internet connection: Broadband – 1 to 2 minutes a 4 minute song and Dial up which can take up to 15 minutes respectively. Another similar company is only based online is MSN Music (shown below) at music.msn.com. It has a similar approach as HMV. The prices and product range are very competitive. MSN Music Price List Option one Option two à ¯Ã‚ ¿Ã‚ ½0.60 an individual track à ¯Ã‚ ¿Ã‚ ½5.50 – à ¯Ã‚ ¿Ã‚ ½12.00 (the price depends on the popularity of an artist/band and how new the album is) 4. Conclusion I have found that the majority of respondents recognized the IPod. However, not many of them could afford to buy one. Therefore, the IPod is currently available for people who have a high disposable income which means that the ones who suffer from poverty or are looking for value for money are not able to buy digitalized music. There are other companies that produce similar to iPod products: Nokia’s N91 is specifically designed music phone which carries out functions as the iPod and it also plays video clips. Another company which produces music phones is Motorola, Motorola iTunes Phone which has been in the market for a 3 months (August 2005). It has gor similar functions as has the iPod. Arguably, there are many other companies which produce very similar products such as MP3 players which are much cheaper. However, my research showed that despite the availability of products such as MP3 players, customers still prefer to buy traditional CDs. This may be because of not being able to use the Internet or special software to download music as well as the fact that not many people have a computer. Also, the majority of the respondents did not recognize the websites of companies such as MSN music or HMV, i.e. these companies are not efficient in making sure that people are aware of the availability of online music which can be downloaded legally. In my personal opinion, CDs will soon become old-fashioned as the influence of independent label companies and online businesses selling digitalized music will attract more customers as it is more convenient as the customers can listen to the songs they want to download and also it is cheaper and time effective. Prices will and are coming down.

Relationship Between Cohabitation And Divorce - 810 Words

Cohabitation is categorized as two people engaged in an intimate relationship residing in the same home permanently or for an extended amount of time. Research denotes a strong correlation between cohabitation and divorce. The research findings are significant for couples and counselors and can have impact on how counselors approach clients in couples counseling and pre-marital counseling. When evaluating cohabitation, various reasons contribute to the formation of couples deciding to reside together prior to marriage. Fundamentally, this literature review will promote the hypothesis stating couples who choose to cohabitate prior to marriage are more likely to have higher divorce rates than couples who choose not to cohabitate prior to marriage. Cohabitation has become highly accepted in today’s society. In previous decades, cohabitation was not widely accepted or implemented. Our literature explores the high correlation of pre-marital cohabitation and divorce rates. The literature demonstrates why individuals choose to engage in cohabitation and how it has a long-term effect on marriage dissolution and fulfillment. Various research studies have displayed an array of approaches to investigate the relationship between cohabitation and marriage disintegration. Influence Of Advertising On Consumer Behavior - 2015 Words

Introduction Isn’t it amazing how people go to stores planning to purchase a specific product but come out purchasing many products? Or when a person is watching TV and sees an advertisement about a product and instantly decides to buy it? Do these people know that it is all because of advertising? When people see an advertisement, it immediately changes something in their minds; it can result in making decisions about the product. That is the influence of advertising on consumer behavior. Some people think that they are not affected by advertisements, yet they are affected, but they just don’t realize it. Advertising is â€Å"a form of communication, which is used to persuade a specific group of people to take some new action† (Ahmed Ashfaq, 2013, p. 2). Advertising is essential for every company and business in competition seeking to be successful. The main things they focus on are the consumers and their behavior. Although there are many factors influencing consumers†™ behavior, advertising has the most impact on it in many ways. Background Advertising mainly focuses on building the brand image, providing information about the products and services, and persuading people into making the decision of buying. Without advertising, people would not know what brand is good and what is not. Analysis Of Anthony Burgess s A Clockwork Orange - 819 Words

Lexy Kraft English IV Ms. Gawith 20 September 2017 â€Å"He will be your true Christian† Humanity can be difficult to define. This is because it s hard to pinpoint a specific non-physical trait that differentiates humans from machines. Anthony Burgess, author of A Clockwork Orange, believes this trait is a person’s freedom to make conscious decisions. By taking away a person’s ability to choose between doing the right thing or the wrong thing, you also take away what makes them human. A Clockwork Orange creates a world documenting the decay of a person’s will to live and the loss of their humanity when their freedom of choice is taken away. Alex, the protagonist of A Clockwork Orange, is a textbook example of the bad boy stereotype. The night†¦show more content†¦The jump does not kill him, but he is taken to a hospital. At the hospital, the doctor’s reverse the effects of Ludovico’s Technique and Alex’s former self returns. Now free to make his own decisions, he returns to his life of violence with a new gang. In the fi nal chapter however, he soon grows bored and decides he wants to try to live out a normal life. He dreams of getting married and having a son. Burgess uses Alex’s situation to showcase how important freedom of choice is. According to Burgess, the right to make choices on whether or not to do the right thing is what defines humanity. People’s ability to consciously make decisions is what separates them from machines and animals. Being unable to make decisions for himself, Alex is driven to suicide. â€Å"And then there I was as I was before, the empty glass on the table and wanting to cry and feeling like death was the only answer to everything† (Burgess 141). When the government took this freedom from him, his will to live disappeared. The government even takes Alex’s suffering a step further by using him as a poster child for the inhumane program. â€Å"He will be your true Christian,’ Dr. Brodsky was creeching out, ‘ready to turn the other cheek, ready to be crucified rather than crucify, sick to the very heart at the thought even of killing a fly† (Burgess 129). Aeroplane HM Stationery Office

Question: Discuss about the Aeroplane HM Stationery Office. Answer: Gliders The glider is able to light all the different engineless aircrafts which have been designed to glide after being appropriately towing aloft or launching from a catapult. There have been different parts of the glider: fuselage, wing and the tail Fuselage: This has been designed for the main body which compares to the conventional aircraft system, where the structure has been set to house the flight of the crew, passengers and the cargo. This has been cambered with the attachment to the winds along with using the slots in the fuselage. When there is a break of the wings into the two parts, then there is a dihedral angle to the wings. (Gibbs-Smith, 1960). Wings: This has been important part of the plane when the air flows have been set with the upper and the lower parts generation. This has been mainly for the balancing of the plane weight along with the body. There are aerofoil, leading edge, trailing edge, chord line, camber line and the camber to handle the flying high lift aircraft. Tail: This has been attached at the rear ends of the glider which is composed of the horizontal and the vertical stabiliser in order to provide the stability with the control of the nose movements. This is known as pitching. (Moberly et al., 2016). Working of Airplanes There are four aerodynamic forces which include the lift with the upward forces that has been generated by wings, gravity with the downward force with the weight of the plane. (Biehl et al., 2015). The thrust with the forward force holds the power of the engine of airplane with drag of backward force with air resistance. The thrust is greater than the drag and the lifts. There have been take offs and the climbs with the level flight with opposing forces. (Wilson et al., 1947). The gravity is set to exceed the lift to slower the drag of airplane in order to overcome the thrust. Figure: This set to life and drag the changes with a particular wing design. Paragliders Cost:the cost is $80 AUD Materials:Sail cloth, line material and the webbing Weight:40 to 50 pounds Deployment Method:the undercarriage with the plot leg is for the landing and the taking off the plane. Flight time:Speed is 25 to 60km/hr. Reusability:Easy to reuse There has been a flexible wing structure to maintain the pressure by allowing the flow of air with the wings to handle the tension of the lines. The position of the pilot is in the seated harness. The glider is able to handle the wind penetration with the variations in the pitch which is able to control the system. The glide ratio is seen to be 10 which has a poor performance to make it for the longer distance. (Nukki et al., 2015). There have been records with the 500km. The turning radius has been set with the smaller spacing with the offering of the different options to carry to the roads. In this, the wings have the aeronautical engineering with the ram-air airfoil. The wings are comprising of the fabric which has been holding the different rows of cells. The income air is inflated along with maintaining the shape and the wings cross section. (Belloc, 2015). The high performance is based on handling the network of the suspension lines where there have been two set of the risers w hich has a 40cm length of the webbing. The wings have the area for about 20-35 square meters with the span of the 8-12 meters. The glide ratio has been set for the recreation wings with the modern competition models. Analysis There is a need to streamline the body to reduce the airplane draft, with the minimum weight of the model. There has been different quality of the wood with the strength to not breakdown in the wind. (Glider et al., 1993). Dimensions: Aspect Ratio =9-10 Wing span = 50-60 cm. Angle of attack = 3-4 deg. Horizontal Stabilizer = 20-25% of wing area Vertical Stabilizer = 40% to 50% of Horizontal Stabilizer area. Dihedral = 2-3 deg. Length of fuselage = 65%-75% of span The cross sections for the airplane wings will set the show with more curved surface. This is called as aerofoil. The wings are able to generate a life where the elements of the fluid approach the wind with the leading edge to meet the trailing edge. The air goes faster, as a result, with the distance travelled for a larger time. (Gibbs-Smith, 1960). There has been angle of attack which include the relative wind with the increase lifting over the broken wings so the generation of the lifts are not sustained. There have been stall where the weight of the airplane is not able to support the system. References Gibbs-Smith, C.H., 1960.The aeroplane. HM Stationery Office. Impacts - Causes and policies for the Australian Surging House Prices

Question: Discuss about theImpacts, Causes and Policies for the Australian Surging House Prices. Answer: The Impacts, Causes and policies for the Australian Surging House Prices The Factors Behind the Rising House Prices in Australia The surging of house prices in Australia poses a great threat to the growth of its economy. The housing has been left vulnerable owing to the houses being so expensive making households to have high level of debts. The most dangerous effect of this is that every boom is followed by a crash. Olive (2016) noted that the crash could only be avoidable if no recession occurred and the interest rate remained low. This is because high interest rate will change the consumption behavior of households. Many investors are always attracted to investing in housing as its generally considered a great investment. The movement of the interest rate determines the housing cycle. I.e. they are closely related. Every Aussies dream is to own a home in at least a quarter piece of land. However, since the late 1990s, there has been a surge in the house prices thereby lowering the affordability of houses. Glenn Stevens the governor of the RBA called it the two-speed economy price movement (Griffiths, 2016). According to duke (2016), its only have of Australian adults that own their homes. The other half are renters. In 2015, Australia was ranked 3rd in term of unaffordability among nine developed countries (Global Property Guide, 2016). The change in prices vary from one Australian state to the other. Source: Business Insider Australia The CoreLogics head of state Tim Lawless suggestion was that the factor that most likely contributed to the May rising price in Sydney was that ahead of the federal election was an increment in investors activities. Housing in Australia is expensive. The income of house rents to incomes of the households has been very high since 2003. The increment in households debt has also contributed to the rising prices (McKenna, 2015). The ratio of households debt to income has gone up. The following chart shows the deviation of debt to income ratio in the long run. Fig: Households debt and housing price Source: OECD, RBA, AMP Capital Despite the surging housing prices in Australia, the rental yields have been too low. For instance, Sydney which is the place for the most unaffordable homes recorded a declined rental yields in September 2015. The decline was by 3.3 %. The rise in rent in Australia is too low on an annual average. While the most common factors that are argued to be responsible for the rising house prices together with the households debt. The main factor is the downward movement of the interest rate. The low interest rate is one of the major factor behind the surging Australian house price (Hyam, 2016). Of the late years, the Australian economy hasnt been performing well as indicated by the falling trend of its GDP and the Rising trend of the unemployment rate. Due to this unhealthy economic growth, the RBA has implemented expansionary monetary policy tool of lower interest rate. The lower interest rate attracts too low interest on the saved money; thus it discourages saving. The following chart shows that there has been an excess demand since the year 2000. Janda (2016) noted that at the moment, the big driver of the market is the cut in the interest rate. He also noted that there is a loosening in the lending policies by some banks which has raised the availability of capital for investment. Fig: The houses demand and supply Source: ABS, AMP Capital Recommendations for Government Macroeconomic Solution Towards Improving House Affordability for Future Young Generation The most effective policies that the government should put in place are those that are with an objective of raising the supply of houses. If supply is able to meet the rising demand for homes, then the younger generation will benefit from the low prices that will result from the interaction of the demand and supply forces. The government could also cut taxes on those who are constructing houses to stimulate more house construction. With lower construction costs, investors will have more disposable income to invest in constructing new houses. The other side of the policies is aimed at reducing the demand for homes. Prices will fall with the reduction in homes demand. One of the major issue facing Australia is the problem of low inflation rate. This problem has led to the implementation of various microeconomic policies with an aim of restoring the economy to the best position. For this reason, the RBA has continuously revised its cash rate downward which has caused the interest rate to be too close to zero. This has raised the ability and willingness for households to seek more loans since the cost of servicing the loans is low. The government should therefore ensure that the interest rate in the economy is raised. It will help in inducing more saving as households will be attracted to the higher interest that the banks will be offering. This is a form of tightening the lending standards. Scutt (2016) noted that the action of the RBA alone may not be sufficient to solve this problem of rising prices. He argued for the ove rsight of the government over the investors lending to be tightened further. Only the interest-only loans should be allowed to remain high. The low-doc loans are expected to fall in supply (Olive, 2016). The following chart shows the movement with a tightened lending standards since the year 2008. Fig: The tightening of lending standards Source: APRA, AMP Capital Bill Shorten the leader of ALP disclosed planned policy towards the negative gearing tax break be made limited. This plans are for the newly built houses; for the existing one, the plans suggests a complete elimination of this negative gearing tax break (Scutt, 2016). Since investors are competing with the first home buyers, these plans are meant to ensure that there exist a level playing field for competition. Janda noted that a rise in the interest rate would leave those who hold mortgages being unable to service the, or rather it would take them longer to repay them. For this reason, the government may impose a policy that requires the mortgage providers to offer them at a fixed interest rate. This would help in ensuring that the consumers are not overburdened in a situation of rising interest rate. If the price of renting a house is way low compared to that of purchasing a home, many households may prefer renting as the best option. Since this is not good for an economy, the intervention by the government is important. There has been several downward adjustment in the cash rate by the RBA. The Australian economy is at its historically low interest rate. The future young generation are at a risk that the prices may continue going up that there is a high chance that they wont have the ability to afford their own homes. Its only the actions of the government and the RBA that can help in lowering the housing price. References Griffiths, K. (2016). Editorial: Housing policy discomfort as Sydney prices keep surging.
